One of the great things about fixing the hand pumps is the community involvement. Whenever we go to the wells, the people are very receptive and thankful for the work that is being done. They are always eager to help in any way that they can and make the process go faster. They are really taking ownership of the well and want to keep it in working order so the entire community can have water. Not only did the men come out to help us, but the children came out to see what was going on. They mostly wanted us to play with them, but they were so excited when the hand pump brought out clean water!
